Why A Subscription To The Wow Magazine Is Worth It
“World of Warcraft: The Magazine” is now in publication. Dan Amrich is the editor-in-chief. It’s really a bit amazing that Blizzard jumped into the world of slick magazine publication when that entire segment of the print industry isn’t doing very well. But jump they did! The first issue came out in January 2010. The date coincided with the 5th anniversary of the World of Warcraft Online Game.
The WoW magazine consists of 148 pages and there are no advertisements. The WoW magazine looks more like a soft-cover book than a magazine. The idea is for it to become a coffee table book and/or a collector’s item.
WoW magazine is published four times a year and the cost of an annual subscription is $39.95 which puts the cost of a single issue at about $10. Single issues of WoW magazine cannot be purchased, however. This magazine will not be sold at newsstands and you won’t find it at Wal-Mart. The only way to get the WoW magazine is to subscribe and subscriptions are available only on the WoW website.
WoW magazine is produced by Blizzard and published by Future Publications.
There was a lot of hype that preceded publication of the first issue of WoW Magazine and expectations were through the roof. Has the WoW Magazine lived up to expectations?
It’s hard to say. Reviews are mixed. There are those who love the WoW Magazine and feel that it’s well worth the cost but there are others who are lukewarm about the content and complain about the manner in which the WoW Magazine was delivered (no protective covering).
If you’re a truly devoted WoW gamer, you’ll probably love WoW Magazine.
